As you know we have been trialling this Economics faculty blog since early October as part of an initiative to develop new learning technologies at EBS. We have surveyed some of you recently and the results indicate that the blog has been a resounding success.

You told us that the blog not only increased the relevance of theory; it also gave a more international perspective. In addition, some students saw the blog as a welcome opportunity to interact with each other and faculty.

In light of the success of the Economics blog, we intend to develop an academic blog which covers all of our subjects, and launch it later this year. Unfortunately that means that this trial Economics blog has now come to an end.

But fear not, you can still keep up to date with what is going on in the world by following some of the other blogs we link to here. My personal favourite is the Economist Free Exchange blog which covers a variety of economics topics and has a fairly international feel to it. It will give you the opportunity to apply the economic theory you are learning to real world events – this is the best way to understand Economics.

Thanks for all your comments and discussions – I look forward to blogging again later in the year with more of my EBS colleagues!
