- There is a good discussion of Government debt on Tim Harford’s blog here. He discusses the issue of cancelling the debt in his usual witty style.
- This caught my eye last week: an interactive timeline of UK unemployment since 1984. What’s interesting is that it shows claimant count (the number of people claiming unemployment transfer payments) versus the International Labour Organisation’s measure. The ILO’s measure is a more accurate reflection of unemployment than many official government statistics that tend to underestimate the proportion of the labour force unemployed at any given time.
- Another Guardian interactive feature concerns global population here. Just put in your date of birth to see what the world’s population was when you were born.
