On Friday 1st March 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad, we welcomed over 900 alumni, students and guests to our Edinburgh Business School cocktail reception. It was by far the largest event we have held anywhere in the world to date and it was wonderful!

Quite amazing in a country with a population of 1.2 million, that Edinburgh Business School currently has over 1,500 students studying its programmes and 1,200 graduates. Even more extraordinary; Trinidad and Tobago currently accounts for 10% of Edinburgh Business School’s 11,000 active students worldwide.

It was a great chance for students and graduates to meet and network with one another, and undoubtedly some new business relationships were formed and many new friendships were made on the night.

Professor Keith Lumsden, Founder and Academic Director of Edinburgh Business School spoke of the high regard he has for students and graduates of our programmes and noted the high quality of the students and graduates of the Caribbean. He also spoke of the long and successful relationship with SBCS, who have been Edinburgh Business School’s partner for over 20 years. Professor Steven Chapman, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University reminded the audience of the accolades Heriot-Watt has received in recent months, including the Sunday Times Scottish University of the Year for an unprecedented two years in a row.

It was a great evening. The buzz and enjoyment was tangible. We will be back I’m sure!
